Mode of Action: Imidacloprid has a high affinity for the nicotinergic acetylcholine receptors in the post-synaptic region of the central nervous system (CNS). The ensuing inhibition of cholinergic transmission in insects results in paralysis and death.
Indication/Description: For the prevention and treatment of flea infestations on dogs & cats. Fleas on are killed within one day following treatment. One treatment prevents further flea infestation for four weeks. The product can be used as part of a treatment strategy for flea allergy dermatitis.
Chemical Name: (6-Chloro-3-pyridylmethyl)-N-nitro-imidazolidin-2-ylideneamine
Method of Administration: Part the hair on the animal's neck at the base of the skull until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the tube on the skin and squeeze firmly several times to empty the contents directly onto the skin. Apply only to undamaged skin. Do not allow recently treated animals to groom each other.
Dosage: 10 mg/ kg body weight topical solution (0.4 ml of the 10 % solution to cats under 9lbs body weight, 0.8 ml of the 10 % solution to cats over 9lbs of body weight.
